Section: Credit Help
When someone (or you) pulls (looks at) your credit report, an inquiry is created. There are two types of inquiries, hard and soft inquiry. Unlike soft inquiries, hard inquiries are visible to all those viewing your credit report and count against your credit score. Generally if you have one or two hard inquiries over the past 6 months, you will not experience a credit score penalty. Any more than that and you start to get penalized. Also if you have too many, creditors may outright deny you no matter what your report says because it looks like you are just fishing for credit.
