Dispute is when you send a letter to the CRA and ask them to change an item on your credit report. This is known as the dispute process. According to the FCRA, they have 30 days to verify the information they have on file or they must correct the item (or delete it totally) as you requested. The 30 days starts the day they receive your letter. It is a good idea to send dispute letters via CRRR method or any method with tracking.
