Dispute Letter

When you dispute and item, you need to send a letter to the CRA and ask them to change an item on your credit report. This letter is called a dispute letter. Some call it a challenge letter. Some expample disputes would be: this item is not mine, I never lived at this address, my credit limit is $x, this item was paid, etc. In your letter, you need to include the item's name, account number and what is wrong along with your name, address and social security number. It is a good idea to mail this letter with some sort of tracking option. The CRA has 30 days to prove their information is correct or they must either update the item as you stated or delete it totally from your credit report.
